The Last Hurrah

Although I’ve been a professional bodyboarder for the past 15 years, unfortunately, the 2013 Pipe Challenge in Hawaii will be my last international contest. Due to my board contract not being renewed, I won’t be able to afford to do the rest of the World Tour.

After re-qualifying for this years tour I was going to retire at the end of 2013, so not being able to finish my final year is a bit of a disappointment. However, I’ve had a amazing career and thankfully have a job waiting for me in real estate, which I’m actually pretty excited about. If there’s another event in Australia I’ll do it, but I won’t be chasing the World Tour.

Thanks for having me, it’s been fun!

Surfer Of The Century

Firstly, I’m a lazy bastard and I’m sorry for not posting lately. I’m going to kick myself up the ass and get back on the program. It’s just that I’ve had some time off from the comps, already re-qualifying for the Tour next year, and I’ve just been having a break before kicking off for 2013. Anyway, back on the program and I’ll make the posts more regular.  Read more…

Yoga Master

I had a yoga session the other day, one-on-one with a Yoga Master. That’s definitely something I want written in my CV. Well, just the Master bit… it makes whatever you are doing sound mystically awesome. Try it. DVD Master, Sleeping Master, Fishing Master…. it just finishes words – or titles – off beautifully. Another Jet Ski Ordeal

I went on a surfing trip a while back with a friend on a rare big swell. There’s a rivermouth up the coast that produces some world-class secret waves; when the elements are right, it’s the place to go. On this particular occasion my friend and I packed up the car and jet ski and headed off to score a classic session. Read more…

Empty Beachie

Whenever I go away usually the places for comps are overcrowded and it’s a shitfight for waves. It’s usually at those times I reflect on sessions like the one I just had at a secret little beachie.  Read more…

Where To Go?

Well folks, the Australian tour event ended the other day and I finished up equal 7th. Not the best finish, or the worst, but the waves were pretty fun, which made competing that much more enjoyable.  Read more…

Mad Mike

Travelling has brought me into contact with people from all walks of life. Every now and then you meet someone who is way outside the norm of what society expects, or more to the point, accepts. From my experiences, there’s no one more out-there then this fella Mad Mike, or The Terminator as we’ve nicked named him.  Read more…
