Davis Second In South Oz

The third event on the 2015 ABA Pro Tour wrapped up this weekend in Port Elliot, South Australia with Jake Stone claiming victory over Unite Flow Team rider Davis Blackwell to capture back-to-back ABA Pro Tour championships.

Stone destroyed his opening wave in the first 10 seconds of the Final to score a 9.33 average, and Blackwell just shook his head. Jake backed it up with an 8.6 on wave three and Davis remained in combo-land for the majority of the Final. But with three minutes left on the clock, the tide turned.

Davis snagged a 9.33 for the best barrel of the day with a clean exit and with one minute remaining, stormed back into the lineup searching for a 8.9 to win. He found a quality wave and it looked like it could have almost been enough, but right behind him, Jake put it beyond all doubt with a 8.93 on the hooter.

Stone was the victor, and with just one event remaining, the points put him in an unbeatable position for the championship. “I’ve never gone back-to-back with anything before,” said Stone. “I was getting cocky after a few big scores, but when I heard that Davis got a 9.33 with a few minutes to go, I had to refocus to win. It was a rad final”.

The final event on the 2015 ABA Pro Tour – the Mystics Pro – will be in late June at Mystics on the South Coast of New South Wales.
