Lachie In Samoa

Check out the latest clip from Lachlan Cramsie, filmed during his trip to Samoa back in early February. Pretty easy to see why Lachie had a photo from the trip appear in our Riptide 198 ad and also had his Samoan adventure featured in the following issue, kid was ripping!

Filmed by Kieran Tunbridge and edited by Conor Hegyi.

Davis Wins At Mystics

Congratulations to Unite Flow Team rider Davis Blackwell for claiming victory the final event of the 2014 ABA Pro Tour – the Mystics Pro – last weekend.

Davis held off a determined Jake Stone to clinch his first ever Australian Pro Tour event, with Dallas Singer and Jason Finlay finishing third and fourth respectively.

“I’m so happy,” said Davis. “This is my first win on the Aussie Tour and to beat opposition like this makes it even sweeter”.

The race for the inaugural ABA Pro Tour championship was reduced to four riders leading into the event but when favourite Lachlan Cramsie tumbled out in his opening Round 3 Heat, he left the gate open for Joe Clarke, Marshall Watson, and Jake Stone.

Clarke looked set to capture his first championship until he finished a close third in his Quarter Final – behind Chase O’Leary and Jason Finlay – and was knocked out of the event.

“That was just so heavy,” said Joe. “I just couldn’t deal with the pressure of that out there today, I’ve never experienced anything like it”.

In the third Quarter Final, the final two championship contenders – Watson and Stone – were pitted against each other with Jake securing second place to move into the Semi Finals and keep his title dreams alive.

A nervous Clarke was forced to sit and watch the remainder of the event to see if Stone could finish first or second in the Final to capture the championship for 2014 from under his nose. With less then 10 seconds remaining in the second Semi Final, Joe looked certain to secure the title when Stone paddled into a double up and nailed the score he needed to progress to the Final.

Davis had a good read on the sandbanks at Mystics and picked the best waves in the Final. The four-man priority system meant that all four finalists – Blackwell, Stone, Singer and Finlay – had the best possible opportunity to get their fair share of waves but Davis choreographed his rides perfectly to take the win. Dallas and Jake went wave for wave but when the siren sounded, Stone had finished second and that was enough to secure his maiden ABA Pro Tour title.

“I’m just so stoked, I cant stop smiling,” laughed Jake. “Thanks to ABA and all the crew that have made this tour what it is and I can’t wait to see what you guys roll out in 2015!”
