The 2012 Shark Island Challenge was run and won today in wild two metre waves at the notorious Shark Island break in the south of Sydney.

Twenty of the worlds best bodyboarders were invited to compete in the International Bodyboarding Association specialty event that has a three month waiting period and one day of frantic competition.

Damian King finished fourth behind winner Mitch Rawlins, who dominated the competition from the first heat of the day, Ewan Donnachie and Jason Finlay, both second and third respectively. Congratulations Kingy!

Cramsie Wins Boxy

Lachlan Cramsie outpointed a world-class field to win the Box Beach Pro – the third event of the 2012  IBA Australasia Pro Tour – this past weekend.

Held in clean, one metre waves at Box Beach, Cramsie scored an unassailable heat total of 15.04 (out of a possible 20) in the final, defeating Jake Stone, John Cruikshank and Wade Masters to claim the prestigious crown.

Cramsie was in awesome form right from his first heat and showed that he was a serious contender with smart wave selection and a barrage of major moves off the end sections.

“It was a really exciting final to be out there with those guys, the level of competition was amazing,” he said. “This is my first win on the tour and I’ll never forget it.”

The IBA Australasia Pro Tour now takes a break until October when a series of events roll through Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria and South Australia and finally concludes with the Rebel Sport Pro in Kiama, New South Wales in November.

Chasing Ghosts Tour

This Spring The Amity Affliction will embark on their biggest run of Australian dates yet, in support of the highly anticipated release of Chasing Ghosts. Featuring California’s metallic hardcore kings The Ghost Inside, Brighton’s modern metal lords Architects and capped off with local juggernauts Buried In Verona, every date on the Chasing Ghosts Tour will be massive.

Speaking on behalf of his band mates, Joel Birch stated, “We’re all loving the new songs. It feels like there is an entire album of awesome songs that we love which hasn’t happened prior to this; we’ve finally written an album we are proud of from start to finish, no filler whatsoever.”

Joel also commented on the lyrical direction of Chasing Ghosts, revealing, “I’ve tried to write my thoughts in a manner that can connect with people on an even more personal level than I did on Youngbloods, and I’m proud that the substance and depth hasn’t been lost or compromised, or watered down.” Amity will showcase the new material on the Chasing Ghosts Tour with their biggest run of dates in the band’s eight years together.

Legions of fans across the nation know exactly what they can expect of The Chasing Ghosts Tour. Don’t miss out when the show comes to your town.
