Three Time Champ

17 year old Unite Flow Team rider Lachlan Cramsie (above right, centre) got himself another Australian Title at the 2011 Nationals this past weekend. In 2009 he won the Under 16 Cadets, 2010 saw him take out the Under 18 Juniors and this year he claimed the Open Mens title. Now that’s what we call progression!

Lachie also finished sixth on the 2011 IBA Australasia Pro Tour. Despite leading the ratings going into the final event, the Rebel Sport Pro, on the weekend, Michael Novy ended the year in fourth position. Top effort fellas, congratulations!

Novy In Reunion

Michael Novy hadn’t been home much before the 2011 Reunion Pro. Following the Sintra Pro in Portugal, he went home for eight days then onto the IBA Australasia Pro Tour events, then home for a day and back on the plane to Reunion Island.

After making it through the stressful Leaderboard rounds, he won his first elimination heat for 2011 in Round Four against Jared Houston. Unfortunately, in the third Quarter Final on the final day, Novy couldn’t stop Alex Uranga, who eventually went on to win the event.

The next stop on the 2011 IBA World Tour is the Encanto Pro in Puerto Rico on 2nd to 13th November. Novy, Ryan Hardy and Damian King will be there, hit us up on Facebook and Twitter for updates and live results.

The Fling King

Kingy has had a tough year on the IBA World Tour (he’s currently 20th on the rankings), but it has been a different story for him on the DK World Tour. He’s second on the ratings and with only two events remaining in 2011, The King has a solid chance of taking the title.

With that in mind, he will pack his bags early next week and head to Venezuela for the next stop on the DK World Tour, the 2011 Bodyboard Pro Festival from 26th to 30th October. He will then make his way to Puerto Rico for the Encanto Pro from 2nd to 13th November.

The Winston Interview

“If I had to choose between the band and bodyboarding, the band dies then and there.” – Winston McCall.

The demise of Parkway Drive is a thought no music fan wants to contemplate, but this statement found in Winston’s recently published interview speaks volumes about his love for the ocean and riding waves.

This is not the first time Winston’s bodyboarding talents have graced the pages of Riptide, the world’s largest bodyboarding magazine, in fact Winston found himself on the cover of the magazine, racing through a wave close to his Byron Bay home, in November, 2003 – mere months before the release of Parkway’s Don’t Close Your Eyes EP.

With some downtime at home before Parkway’s next tour, Winston finally had some time to chase some swells with renowned bodyboarding photographer Alex Ormerod and also catch up with long time friend, and Unite Clothing Company Owner, Joel Taylor for an interview. The result is a very candid chat about music and Winston’s passion for bodyboarding something that’s further emphasised when it is revealed that Winston’s parents were two of the first people to ride one Australia’s heaviest and most famous waves, Cronulla’s Shark Island in the late ’70s (yup, his mum was out there too!).

Just like on stage, Winston’s boundless, infectious energy bubbles throughout the interview. So much so, one of the world’s most respected bodyboarders, Ryan Hardy commented that, “Winston’s article is one of the most inspiring and motivating interviews I’ve read in many years.”

The Winston McCall Interview can be found in Riptide 184 in newsagents Australia wide now for $12.99. For more information, visit

The current ratings leader will have his work cut out with Mitch Rawlins, Jones Russell, Dallas Singer and Andrew Lester all separated by just a handful of points.

He finished a close second to Dave Winchester last year and is keen to go one step further to secure his first Australian Pro Tour championship. Good luck mate!
