Double Dose

I was blown away when I first saw this image of Nick Ormerod shot by Matt Brockie, it bears an incredible resemblance to this photo of Nick that we ran as an ad in Riptide 179. The colours, the lighting, the positioning of photographer and rider…everything. It’s kinda crazy how similar the two photos are.

Matt Brockie is a surf photographer based on Queensland’s Gold Coast. His images have been published in Riptide, Movement, Le Boogie amongst other bodyboard and surf magazines worldwide. You can view more of Matt’s work here, it’s definitely worth a look!

Canaries Outtakes

Le Boogie sent our mate Chris Gurney – the culprit that nailed this photo for us – on a mission to cover the Canary Islands season in late 2010. The full feature appears in Le Boogie 7 but today you can grab a backstage pass to his excursion through the Canaries.

Head over here to check out the first gallery of outtakes – including a couple shots of Michael Novy (above) – along with some insightful commentary from Chris tacked on the end of each image.

Le Boogie 7

So you’ve finally put down the last issue of Le Boogie and now the crew throw the new issue on your plate. And this meal is all you can eat.

Eight time world champ Guilherme Tamega doesn’t surf like an Aussie and he never will. “I don’t give a fuck for criticisms,” are his exact words. He also mentions the spider Mike Stewart once trained to bite him in his sleep. That’s just the start. Twenty year old photographer Chris Gurney shot a much deserved feature on the Canary Islands. You should see it.

Eddie Solomon has got a tumor on his spine, of all things. Le Boogie visited the saviour of American bodyboarding at his home in California, and there’s good news. Jeff Hubbard and Jacob Romero flap their wings in Maui, Mitch Rawlins flips onto the front page at P-Pass and camera whiz Luke Shadbolt cruises Samoa with a van of hooligans. Try not to fall in love with their infectious personalities.

Thanks to Le Boogie’s unbeatable roster of lensman the new issue is loaded gallery after gallery, and it’s all meat, no fat. But we don’t want to spoil it for you here, so listen carefully: remove your fins, run fast to your newsagent, swipe a copy of Issue 7 and live happily ever after.

Le Boogie Issue 7 is now available through their online store, all leading bodyboarding stores and for the first time, at your local newsagent. For those with an iPhone, head over to iTunes, download the App and grab a digital version for the new low price of $2.49!

If you’re still not convinced how epic Issue 7 is you can peep a preview here and view the teaser by clicking here.
