Names To Faces

Faces is a short film exposing some of the world’s best bodyboarders on the North Shore of Hawaii. It was filmed over three days during the IBA World Tour event at Pipeline last week.

“I have captured every individual in an almost confronting situation by filming so tight and close to them”, said Caleb Davenport, the creator of Faces. “This amplifies the facial expressions and creates for a more moving film aided by an appropriate soundtrack. I hope it makes you smile!”

To celebrate the release of Faces we’re running a giveaway on our Facebook page. Want to win free Unite stuff? Well, all you’ve gotta do is name the four Unite Team riders featured in Faces. We’ll select one lucky winner and hook them up with a Tee Shirt and a bunch of other goodies. It’s that simple!

Entries close 11.59pm AEDT Sunday 6th March, 2011. Winner will be announced on our Facebook page on 7th March, 2011.

Well worth a watch if just for his insight into board design.

Mix ‘N’ Mash Tour

Having toured together on the 2010 Warped Tour, Parkway Drive and the UK’s You Me At Six clicked from the word go. It may have been a case of World Cup fever from watching many a game together or the friendly games of football the bands played that bonded them, but one thing is for sure, it was a shared outlook and attitude that brought the two groups together from the opposite sides of the globe and genre spectrum.

This May they will be joined by Bleeding Through, The Wonder Years and Confession for The Mix ‘N’ Mash Tour of Australia. Tickets go on sale on February 25, for more information go here.

DK Is Not Dead

Ryan Hardy and Damian King competed in the Dropknee division at the 2011 Pipeline Pro yesterday. They were unlucky not to progress past the Semi Finals but both scored a few sneaky Backdoor barrels for their troubles. Who wouldn’t want to surf Pipe and Backdoor with only three other people in the water?

The event is currently on hold with organisers calling a lay day today. Ryan and Kingy, along with Michael Novy, will compete in coveted Mens division when competition resumes. The final day looks like it’s gonna run over the next couple of days, stay tuned to our Facebook and Twitter for up to date news on the 2011 Pipeline Pro.

Riptide 180

Stuck to the cover of Riptide 180 is the most anticipated all-DK film of the past 10 years, The Lackey Project, the DVD from Australia’s most respected and revered dropknee rider, Matt Lackey.

The action certainly doesn’t stop with the DVD though, Riptide 180 is filled with a whole lot more craziness than that. Riptide has photos from the very first, monumental session at a wave that Mitch Rawlins referred to as “Australia’s Teahupo’o” and all the best coverage from another eventful Canarian season. Plus, there’s some cool tales from bodyboarding’s fringe; including a future bodyboarding sommelier and an insight into the Canadian bodyboarding scene.

Riptide 180 is out today at newsagents and select surf shops across Australia. Go get it!
